It has been a busy fall here at Alberta Opera. Pinocchio’s fall tour has finished up. There has been lots of high praise for a talented cast, and congratulations for a well-written production. We are proud to say the least. If you have not already seen the show, we think you will like it.

Did you know that in Alberta Operas adaptation of Pinocchio, all the three actors take on a total of 22 characters! The Pinocchio set that was planned by Daniela Masellis is a multi-functional set - if a prop or set didn't have multiple uses, it was tossed. Alberta Opera finishes the public performances of Pinocchio at Westbury Theatre, TransAlta Arts Barns, with enthusiastic and positive reviews. "Timoteo’s staging in a succession of quick scenes consistently inventive, and his three actors are bold, funny, and resourceful", writes Liz Nicholls from the Edmonton Journal. Alberta Opera is honoured to have been nominated for five Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards for our production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

We always enjoy hearing from schools that we have visited. In April we performed for the students of Exshaw School. Today we received some very nice drawings and thank you letters. We're so happy that you enjoyed Jack and the Beanstalk. See you next year!

 

Today we received some colourful drawings from the students of C.W. Sears School in Tofield. We're happy that you enjoyed Alberta Opera's performance of Jack and the Beanstalk. We always look forward to visiting C.W. Sears and hope to perform for your school again next year. Thanks very much!

 

Last week the cast performed Jack and the Beanstalk at Robert Rundle School in St. Albert. Today we received some wonderful artwork from the students there. We really appreciate hearing from you and are glad that you enjoyed the show. Thanks very much!

 

Today we received lovely and colourful cards of appreciation from the students of OS Geiger Elementary School in Calgary.  We're delighted that they enjoyed the performance of Jack and the Beanstalk and we look forward to performing for them again one day.   

 

Hi Everyone! This morning the cast is in Calgary with our 70th touring performance of Jack and the Beanstalk at Brentwood School. Next week they will be back in Edmonton for shows here and in St. Albert. Later this month Jack will travel to the Cold Lake area for performances there as well as Ardmore, Bonnyville, Plamondon and Boyle. Stay warm!
